Vein.fm : "This World Is Going to Ruin You"

At times this band colors their chaotic hard-core sound with the ghosts of nu-metal past. The first piece is more of an intro as it is not allowed to progress into what these guys normally define as a song. The abrasive nature there is, making them more dangerous to your ears than say Slipknot, but they are less intent to damage you than say Nails or Hexis.  Even when they condense this down to a minute, I would not call this band grind core. The vocals on the first actual song are hard core screams, though some of the grinding math to the gears of the riffs are metal in the technical nature. The firs song is impressive for what it is, but in the long haul when it comes to this album as a whole, I will need more from them.

"Fear in Non-Fiction" has more groove when it is not raging at you in a faster manner, the sun vocal hook breaks things up and gives it enough of a switch in color to make it worthwhile. "Lights Out " covers a great deal of ground. We hear various vocals butting heads. Anger is the monochrome emotion here. I like the fact "Wherever You Are" is darker though the song itself does not really go anywhere.  There is a lighter more melodic post- hard core feel to "Magazine Beach" that recalls some of the emo sounds from the late 90s. "Inside Design" is more about the pounding chaos. Code Orange's more pounding straight forward moments is a point of reference.  "Hellnight" blends the nu-metal grooves with hardcode like I mentioned earlier in this article.

"Orgy In the Morgue" is more like what I think of when I see the word metal core. I can hear where the hyper aggression of a band like Converge made a lasting impression.  The more melodic Deftones like tone of "Wavery" is much preferred. It is darker and more sonic; I need to hear them doing more in this direction it is just better song writing than battery for the sake of it. I can appreciate the varied shades of sound they bring to the last song, but the arrangement is rather disjointed. Overall this album is heavier than anticipated and one of the better metal core leaning albums I have heard in the past year. I will give it a 9.
