Nobody told me Fugazi has gotten back together. Ok it is only Ian and Joe Lally, but this might be as close as we get. Ian's wife is playing drums and she might not hit as hard , has heard a few Fugazi albums. There is some similar sonic attack at the end of the first song. His wife also sings . This has been going since 2015, and I just found out cliking around on Bandcamp. They branch out from the more noteworthy elements with a weird jazzy drum part on "Hard to Explain". Ian does most of the singing. His wife doubling up here and there, even singing some on her own. There is a also a rock n roll vibe you never heard from Fugazi. Ian shows he can really play guitar with the best of them on this song.  There are many of Fugazi's different sides show here. Some of their grooves in the DNA of 'Say Yes". What you are not going to hear is any Minor Threat.

"Have a Cup of Tea" lets the smooth vocals have room as the groove is kept more restrained. They gradually build like well Fugazi. I am going to stop here right and quit comparing it to Fugazi as they sound like them as they should be have more melody and sonic growth infused in them. I am not saying they are btter , the mood is less confrontational. They guitar playing is great and his sense of riffing has picked up where it left off.  I like the subtle stab at the Bible made on "BQM" . There is a blues inflection on " Last Thing". Joe's bass playing is some of the best . Amy's voice on 'Jack Ssys" bends the sense of familiarity. "Shedileebop" has more twang to the jangle as the bass backs off. It is not until the build at the end that it really hits the sweet spot for me.

Ian Mckaye might get political and perhaps "Inaguration Day" is more heavy handed lyrically than he has been in the past , but it is a good song that doesn't get overwhelmed by forcing you to choose a side. The hooky refrain of "there's some people here to see you..." is a pretty classic moment even if you do not care about the implications. They have more of a lazy jam on the last song. I can hear this one being cool live. Anna' vocal takes the spotlight here. It is punk, but this album is made of the same quality you expect from these guys which is high, so I will round it up to a 10.
